***Packages/Letters that take their time traveling will be accepted here until June 2012.
Tips for Packages and Letters:
- Put your mail in padded envelopes, as it will be treated like a letter.
- Make sure whatever you send is under 4 lbs.
- When sending packages (in padded envelopes always please) write religious symbols, biblical verses, or 'school supplies' on the box in RED INK. Also, address the mail to 'Sister Ellen.' This will help prevent theft and give me a better chance of actually receiving your mail!
- Don't claim value or claim very little on the packages.
- Care packages can be written off in your taxes...that's a pretty good excuse to send me something...
- Keep your tracking number (this way you can let me know for sure when the package has arrived in country and through customs)
- It can take time to send mail (2-4 weeks minimum), so far the average is 3-4 weeks.
- Number letters so both you and I will know if a letter has gone missing
- Don't use DHL, it is a pain for me to get mail that way.
- Aerograms (found at the post office) rule, postcards drool (unless sent in an envelope if often becomes decorative items in Tanzania post offices)
- UPS International time and cost guide is a very helpful tool
